Good morning, dear interviewers. I'm very glad to stand here for this teaching interview.
Today, I'm going to present a 10 - minute 试讲 for Unit 1 "A New Start" - Understanding
Ideas. Now, let's begin our class!
1. Pre - Reading: Lead - in and Prediction
Class! Before we start our new lesson, let's watch an interesting video first. (Pretend to play
the video) Look at the screen! This video shows what students in different countries do on
the first day of school. It's really fascinating, isn't it? Now, I want you all to think about your
own first day of junior high school. Discuss with your deskmates about what you did on that
special day. And then, we'll match the behaviors with the corresponding countries. (Pause
for a while as if students are discussing)
Okay, I see some of you have finished the discussion. The boy with glasses in the front row,
would you like to share what you did on the first day of junior high school?
S: I remember we had a short opening ceremony and then went to our classrooms.
T: Excellent! That's a great start. Now, let's move on. I have a big question for you. What is
junior high school life like? I want you to describe it from three aspects: I Know..., What I
want to Know..., How I can find out more... Just like this: "I know school starts at...", "How
many students are there in my class?", "I can talk to my teacher." Now, turn to your group
members and have a quick discussion. (Pause again)
The girl with a ponytail in the second group, could you please tell us your ideas?
S: I know we have many new subjects, and I want to know which subject is the most
interesting. I think I can ask my seniors to find out more.
T: Wonderful! Your thinking is very clear.
Next, let's recall our first lesson. Here is a questionnaire. Please take out a piece of paper
and write down your answers. What was your first lesson at junior high? Was it Chinese,
Maths, English, Biology, Geography, History, Art, PE, Music, or others? And what did you do
in that lesson? Also, think about what you think is important in learning that lesson. (Pause
as if students are filling in the questionnaire)
Now, let's make a prediction. Look at the images and the title on the PPT. What do you think
the writer did in his first lesson? The boy sitting by the window, have a try!
S: Maybe the writer learned something new and interesting.
T: That's a good guess. Let's read the passage and see if you're right.
