This class, let’s begin with a guessing game. I will give you 3 hints
about a city, and you can guess which city it is. Hint 1: it is on the west
coast of America. Hint 2: it has a famous site called golden gate bridge
which is used on the cover of our textbook. And hint 3: it once started a
gold rush. Ok, class, have you got the answer? Bingo, it’s San Francisco!
Pre-reading
Then, what else do you know about San Francisco? Great, it’s a
beautiful city for travel. And? Wonderful, it has diverse culture. So do you
want to go there? Although we could not travel there now, we can take a
trip by Li Lan’s travel journal. What do think Li Lan might write in her
journal? Aha, some famous tourist sites, quite possible! Yeah, the history
and the culture of San Francisco, good prediction!

Now class, read the passage quickly to check your predictions and
figure out how many parts can it be divided into. 3 minutes for you, let’s
